These are the actual maquettes of WALL-E and EVE
used by the animators at Pixar. Unlike traditional hand-sculpted
animator's models, these are produced from the actual 3D data
used to create the images you see on the screen. The process
is generically known as 'rapid prototyping', where a 3D 'printer'
uses a plastic material to create the actual prototype one thin
layer at a time. The process takes many hours and has such a
fine finish that it looks like it was made by MAGIC!
WALL-E and EVE will be on display at CEL-EBRATION! Gallery
through the show’s end on September 6.
